Ninja Foodi 10 in 1 XL Reviews
- Not too small, not too big – just right
After unpacking the Ninja Foodi 10-in-1 XL multifunction oven, I have to say that I was almost a little surprised at how big the device is. Still no comparison to a standard oven. The overall dimensions are 33.5 x 43.5 x 50.5 cm . At 14.6 kilos, the mini oven is still quite mobile, but not necessarily light.
There are ventilation slots and a heating element on the side and on the back. Accordingly, the stove should still have some space on the sides for the exhaust air. There are black spacers on the back so it doesn’t stand directly against the wall.
In addition, you will also find a brief summary of the technical information there, as well as the very short power cable at 91 cm. It is stated in the instructions that this was done with the intention of not being a trip hazard or anything like that. In practice, I find this quite impractical for setting up the stove. You shouldn’t plug it into an extension cord either.
Space for everything your stomach desires
The Ninja Foodi really offers more than enough space for a mini oven. There are a total of 4 rails in the 29 liter cooking space , which are numbered on the side. The scope of delivery includes two grids, a frying basket and a tray and drip tray .
In addition, there is the crumb tray, which must be inserted under the lower heating rods. It can be easily removed and cleaned if something drips or crumbles.
The two black metal sheets are slightly narrower than the grid and are intended to be placed on them. So if you want to prepare a roast or chicken, for example, you have the draining grid included here.
10-in-1 device for all meals of the day
The title as a 10-in-1 device is covered by the corresponding preparation programs. A lot is possible with this mini oven – from freshly toasted bagels to pizza, hot-air fried fries to large roast chickens, everything is possible here.
The programs are selected via the display in the oven handle. Here I first thought how unusual and potentially impractical this could be when you also have to open and close the oven with it. In the test I have to say I liked it more and more. Not only does it save space on the device itself, you have a really good view of everything, the buttons never get hot (in contrast to the metal housing, see photo below) or fog up when you take a quick look behind the door.
In addition, the operation is actually very intuitive and works without a look at the instructions. Most programs have a preset time and temperature, and it even shows you the best position for the tray thanks to the numbering on the side. With some programs also the correct positions for two sheets if you press the “2 Level” button. However, this is also the maximum number of Simultaneous Levels that can be used for the preparation.
If you want to use the toast program, you can also specify how many slices of toast you want to prepare and how brown you want them to be. You just have to try and see which level suits you best.
Overall, you can choose from programs:
- grill
- air fry
- Whole Roast
- roast
- beacon
- Pizza
- toast
- bagel
- reheat
- dehydrate
Then press start on the right and the device starts immediately. Depending on the program, there is a very short heating-up period and shortly afterwards you can put in your food.
The oven is a little louder for a short time while it is heating up, and the metal housing in particular vibrates quickly. In operation, it is usually between 60 and 70 decibels loud, which for me was comparable to a microwave.
Save energy thanks to faster preparation
As already mentioned , the preheating really doesn’t take long and the preparation process itself was also faster. For example, I took out the pizza before the timer ran out and it was perfectly crispy and hot – delicious. And much faster than from a conventional oven.
Other preparations also work very easily and quickly, in most cases I just occasionally looked through the viewing window and turned on the light briefly to see how I liked the degree of browning. Otherwise, I just put the preset timer a little under the information on the packaging and that actually works pretty well. Unless two trays are used, then less time is saved.
The bacon could have been turned again and is done a little less quickly on the left than in the middle and on the right, which was also noticeable with the biscuits. Nevertheless, for not even 5 minutes under the grill very crispy delicious.
The mashed potatoes with garlic bread were also ready very quickly and tasted delicious, at least my colleagues didn’t complain about the lunch. Well, it may also be because it was made ready for you free of charge, but I’m pretty sure it was tasty too.
So far I haven’t noticed any disadvantages compared to a conventional oven, on the contrary I like that I don’t have to heat up an unnecessarily large cooking space when I’m only preparing something small. There are small drawbacks because not all trays are necessarily dishwasher-safe and the heat distribution on the sides of the tray is somewhat higher, as can be seen on the outermost edge of the biscuits.
Not just a beautiful appearance
If you need a mini oven and also have the space for this quite large mini oven, you get a really top device with the Ninja Foodi 10-in-1 XL multifunction oven, which for me can definitely replace a large oven. You also need fewer appliances overall, because you can save on an air fryer, toaster, dehydrator and possibly even a microwave if you only used them to heat up your meals anyway.
I also think the oven looks really cool, not like other mini ovens, but actually, as the name suggests, like a multifunction oven with which you can prepare wholesome meals. Accordingly, the price is of course a bit higher, but for what you get, it is still good value for money in my opinion.
