ECOVACS X1e OMNI vacuum and floor mopping robot with powerful cleaning performance for €749 instead of €849

The ECOVACS X1e OMNI comes with rotating mops , strong suction power and AIVI object recognition. A comprehensive cleaning station is also part of the package. How is the “little” brother of the X1 OMNI doing?

Scope Of Delivery

The scope of delivery does not reveal any big surprises. The expected components are present, including the robot vacuum and cleaning station, the two side brushes, but also a pre-installed dust bag in the station .

Right at the beginning you are greeted by a large piece of paper, which simply explains the structure and setup of the vacuum robot. A larger manual is also included in the scope of delivery.

Navigation

Like the normal X1 OMNI, the X1e relies on a combined system of a laser tower on the top and object detection. As a result, the vacuum robot navigates reliably through your household and can avoid smaller objects with object recognition. It can also avoid cables or socks lying around. The system works well so far, but it’s not 100% perfect either. From time to time things can be overlooked. However, the AIVI detection from ECOVACS is definitely one of the best object detections on the market.

Additional sensors are installed on the side and underside. In this way, edges can be negotiated better and abysses can be recognized in good time. Carpet detection can also be enabled in this way, which can increase the suction power on a carpet. This allows you to save battery by using less suction power on hard floors and still clean carpets well by increasing the power here in places.

Cleaning

  • Suck

No matter how well a vacuum robot can move through the household, if it doesn’t clean well, then it’s not really useful. With the X1e, ECOVACS offers up to 5000 pa suction power, which is completely oversized for hard floors, but is just right for carpets. In our test, the X1e OMNI can remove between 90-98% of dirt on a carpet, which puts it in the top class.

Only the Dreame L10s Ultra has been able to beat it slightly so far, while Roborock’s S7 MaxV and Pro come very close, but are slightly worse. All of the models just mentioned achieve a very similar, extremely good result on average.

After cleaning, the vacuum robot in the station starts the suction process, which empties the dust chamber into a dust bag. So you don’t have to worry about disposal as often, but you also have to buy new dust bags. A bagless suction station would be a good alternative for people without allergies who would like to save here.

Wipe

With the OMNI, ECOVACS has opted for a wiping system with rotating mops. This can wipe floors much better than previous systems due to additional friction and pressure. Unsurprisingly, the X1e OMNI removes stains from the floor and delivers a generally good wiping result . If you want to use a cleaner, you can use the Botclean produced by ECOVACS in cooperation with Henkel or use the cleaning agent from the manufacturer.

However, the X1e has one difference to the regular X1 OMNI. There is no internal water tank installed here, which means that the water only gets into the mops during cleaning and moistening in the station. As a result, the robot has to return to the station a little more often.

In normal suction mode in combination with wiping, we got around 100 minutes of running time before charging. Here, however, the area of your home is very important, since the vacuum robot in our office had to return to the station over long distances. I would therefore consider the 100 minutes from our test as the minimum value.

The vacuum and floor mopping robot carries out the aforementioned cleaning before, during and after cleaning. This keeps the mops clean throughout and you only very rarely have to wash them manually. Two water tanks for fresh water and waste water are available in the station for the water supply. These can be removed by their handles and so easily filled and emptied. In the center of the tanks is an accessory bay with a brush. After cleaning, a hot air blower starts , which dries the mops. So no odors or bacteria can develop.

The cleaning station cleans the mops, but you have to clean the station yourself.

A function that the X1e OMNI unfortunately does not yet offer is the raising of the mops. This means that flat carpets of less than 3 cm can be driven over without getting them wet. Instead, ECOVACS opts for the automatic avoidance of carpets to ensure that they do not get wet. But you have to carry out vacuuming and wiping processes with carpets separately.

App

The ECOVACS app, which is available for Android and iOS, serves as the control center for ECOVACS vacuum robots . You have to connect this to the vacuum robot at the beginning, the Quick Start Guide provides helpful instructions here. A clear tip here is definitely to turn on the vacuum robot under the cover before you start wondering why the connection doesn’t work.

You can start the first mapping in the app, where the X1e OMNI dares a trip through your household and creates a map relatively quickly. The rooms are also divided up directly, and now you can even recognize rooms like the kitchen automatically. If something is wrongly recognized here, you can manually divide and divide the rooms again. There are no-go zones and virtual walls to block off unwanted areas. You can adapt the map to your own needs and wishes.

There are also various settings that can be made. Including the suction power or the wiping intensity . However, you can also create schedules for regular cleaning or view the history of cleaning processes.

From time to time you will find pop-ups and advertisements for new models of the brand or offers for accessories such as dust bags in the app. I still think it’s okay, because they aren’t obtrusive and could also be practical in the case of accessories. But you should also draw the line here and avoid further fade-ins.

Language Assistant YIKO

Although the X1e OMNI still supports the voice assistants from Google and Amazon , they now also offer their own service. YIKO can do much more than the assistants of the big tech companies, but is also tied to the station. So you either have to shout loudly when you are in the next room or just stand within audible range. Ideally, there would also be other YIKO devices that you could distribute in your household if necessary. Currently it is limited to the vacuum robot.

In practice, however, it is quite practical if you want such a language assistant. You can start almost all functions, even a few frequently used ones like fast mapping. I think the quality of the speakers is a bit of a shame. You’re in the premium segment here and YIKO doesn’t really sound good at higher volumes. The smart speakers from other manufacturers provide a better experience. Of course, this does not affect the function itself, but you can expect perfection in this price range.

Camera

The wiping robot is also equipped with a camera . This is located on the front and can be viewed via the app. When docked, it looks into the room and is not covered separately. Before entering the camera section of the app, you must enter a pre-determined PIN.

If you access the camera, the vacuum robot gives a message over the loudspeakers. So you can’t be secretly observed via the app. There is no way to completely disable the camera.

Conclusion

All owners of an ECOVACS X1 OMNI will certainly not be attracted to the new X1e , after all it is almost the same model. Only the internal water tank is saved, the object recognition does without the additional TrueDetect and the Jacob Jensen design is also omitted. So you could almost think it’s a T10 OMNI, but the hardware is more suited to the X series. You get a very good suction result with an equally good wiping function. The navigation works well and the station offers the vacuum robot a certain degree of independence.

Pros

  • Very good suction and wiping results
  • Reliable navigation
  • Own language assistant with additional functions

Cons

  • Carpet cannot be cleaned with mops installed

The ECOVACS DEEBOT X1e OMNI starts with a €200 lower RRP than the X1 and costs €1299. There is a discount campaign right at the start, which brings you to €849. I could well imagine that the price region will be more like the permanent region of the X1e. So it is in the same price range as an S7 Pro Ultra or a Dreame L10s Ultra . It clearly leaves the S7 Pro Ultra behind, because object recognition and hot air drying are missing there.

The vibrating wiping system doesn’t quite match the performance of the rotating mops either. With the Dreame L10s Ultra it looks a bit tighter. Here you can, for example, create an advantage with the language assistant YIKO, but has to pull the short straw when cleaning carpets with a mop, for example. In the end, it probably depends on the current price and personal preference.

In summary, you get a top model with few losses and good performance at a price that suits the market. ECOVACS X1e OMNI review video below:
