Dreame D9 Max Review: At Dreame, the vacuum robot portfolio is constantly being expanded. Now there is an improved version of the Dreame D9 with the Dreame D9 Max. The main innovation is probably the increase in suction power by 1000 pa. Is the improved version worth it?
Dreame D9 Max Review
In addition to the Dreame D9 Max, there is now also a Dreame D9 Mistral Pro/ Dreame D9 Pro in Europe. In addition to an additional button, there are two more sensors on the side and bottom. This has been adopted from the Dreame Bot L10 Pro and can also be seen in the comparison image below. This means that the Dreame D9 Pro theoretically has a larger range of functions. As long as it is not a small surcharge, I would resort to the cheaper model. Dreame D9 Max Review:

Scope Of Delivery
In the scope of delivery of the Dreame D9 Max we find the necessary things for the operation of the vacuum robot. The following content is included:
- Vacuum robot with charging station
- side brush head
- Mop attachment with reusable wipe
- operation manual

Unfortunately not included is a replacement side brush head or second wipe. You could have added more to that. Everything is included for normal use of the robot.
Design & Processing
With so many models in a short period of time, some with similar specifications, not much has changed in terms of design. There are few external differences between the Dreame L10 Pro and the D9 Max. Only one button is missing, which was present on the D9 and is there for a square room area cleaning. Two less crash sensors are also installed. Otherwise, the robots are really almost identical.

The workmanship, which is very good with the models, is also consistently good. The plastic is high quality and with proper maintenance, the vacuum robot is also durable.
Like its predecessor, the Dreame D9 Max uses laser room measurement for navigation. There is no 3D recognition like the Bot L10 Pro , so that’s where the main difference between the two lies. In order to avoid falls, there are sensors on the underside with which the vacuum robot can detect abysses. As usual, there is also a collision sensor in the form of a bumper on the front.

With the help of its sensors, the Dreame D9 Max navigates reliably through your apartment, but cannot detect small obstacles and has to use the collision sensor to do so. It is therefore advisable to keep things in order so that there are no problems.

In order to enable optimal cleaning, you should ensure a clear path on the first ride. All rooms to be cleaned should be opened up and non-standard obstacles should be removed. Then the vacuum robot can optimally create its map.
The biggest innovation compared to the Dreame D9 is the increased suction power of 1000 pa, i.e. 4,000 pa in total . With this, the Dreame D9 Max has extra power to clean carpets better. There is also a surface detection, which increases the suction power on carpets, so that the battery can be spared on hard floors where less suction power is sufficient.
Map Creation & App
Dreame D9 Max Review: Of course, the Dreame D9 Max creates a map during its ride that can be adjusted and optimized. If you don’t want the vacuum robot to drive over carpets with the mop attachment attached, or if you have a corner with all sorts of stuff where the vacuum robot could get tangled up, it is possible to set a no-go zone .
The vacuum robot then simply skips this and you don’t have to worry about it. Virtual walls are also in the arsenal of the Xiaomi Home ( Android | iOS ) app. With this you can draw in a wall and delimit an area. After the first successful cleaning, the app also divides your apartment into different rooms, so you can send the vacuum robot separately to different rooms.
Wipe Function
The Dreame D9 Max also has a wipe function. This is the conventional method, where the vacuum robot simply pulls the mop with it and releases water at the same time.

This results in a wet wipe rather than a properly wiped floor. The vacuum robot lacks the necessary pressure and friction for this. Vacuum robots like the Roborock S7 are superior here because they use vibration wiping technology .
Conclusion
Unsurprisingly, the Dreame D9 Max impresses with its neat operation and reliable navigation. Why not surprising? This is a Dreame D9 with 1000 pa more suction power or a Dreame L10 Pro without 3D recognition. We tested both models, the L10 Pro almost twice , and they were also able to convince us. If you look around again, you will notice the Dreame sub-brand Mova, whose Mova L600 is the Dreame D9 Max.
Now you could accuse Dreame that their complete vacuum robot portfolio is quite confusing and you are probably not completely wrong. However, you now have a little more choice to buy the right vacuum robot. If you have almost no carpets, the normal Dreame D9 is sufficient, if you have several carpets or even entire carpets, it is worth taking the Dreame D9 Max to achieve better cleaning. If you often have toys or other small obstacles in your way, the Dreame L10 Pro is worth a look, even if its 3D recognition does not always work 100%, it definitely helps the vacuum robot to deal with it better.
Which of the Dreame vacuum robots you should buy now ultimately depends on the current price. If the Dreame L10 Pro is currently cheaper than the D9 & D9 Max, it is of course clear that the L10 Pro should be used. If the price difference of approx. 30€ remains, you can decide based on the considerations mentioned above.
